Week 4 of walking up and down the sidewalk each morning with my sign in front of the school.

Today I noticed the power of persistence and a good sign.

This was parked right in front of where I walk and gave me a bonus, as all the vehicles had to slow down to a one-way pattern in the road to get past this legally parked SUV.

My sign does not say that
I am anti-military.

It does not say that I am not a patriot.

It does say that I don't think military recruiters should be
soliciting 12 or 13 year old children.

That's it.

I think this SUV may belong to the woman who yelled at me yesterday.  (see previous post)
I think freedom of expression is wonderful.
Rudeness, not so much...

I am from a military family and I think that recruiting in schools is ridiculous and obscene on many levels. It is obviously immoral but it is also BAD FOR THE MILITARY. Anyone who is at all motivated will find a recruiting office. This is all just about self-perpetuation.

Thank you Julie. There are recruiting offices in Hillsboro. And Beaverton. And probably Mcminnville too.

I see you every day when I drop my kids off at school. I agree with you. I don't think recruiters have any place in the school. If a student decides they want to be in the Military, they can go find a recruiter and talk about it off campus.

Thanks Andrea.

Unfortunately the No Child Left Behind Act allowed recruiters back in schools. So can't change that. (yet)

I AM trying to change how OFTEN Gaston Schools allow them. RIght now it is as often as the recruiters want and I have asked the school to limit ALL recruiters to 2 times per year. Next school board meeting is the 9th. We will see how that goes.

Change of subject:
Are you related to the Robotics coach?
